This blog is about Communication (yes, with a capital 'c') and ESL or English as Second Language.
But, of all languages, why English? Why not your mother language: Filipino?
The writers of this blog do not deem English higher than Filipino or any other languages. Every language is unique and beautiful, certainly worth studying and loved. It is just that, in the modern world, English is regarded as the global language. If Latin was the global language, we would certainly teach Latin. For instance, in the Philippines, there are hundreds of dialects. If one party speaks Tagalog and the other Visayan, how can they understand each other? It's by speaking in English. One can also study another language easier when they are able to understand English.
But we strongly encourage everyone to preserve, study, and practice their native language. Communication is not limited to English. It is not even limited to verbal language--Communication can work through images and other sounds. So, as you study ESL with us, remember that your very own language is worth loving and preserving.
